Our Mission
The mission of The Arc of San Juan County is to improve the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages by advocating for equal opportunities and choices in where and how they learn, live, work, play and socialize.
At the Arc of San Juan County, our core belief is simple yet profound: every individual affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities, along with their family members, deserve access to vital resources, advocacy, and the necessary skills to fully participate as engaged citizens in our democracy and become vibrant members of their communities. We are proud to be a part of the national Arc movement, the world's largest community-based organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our Commitment: Encourage, Support, and Educate
At The Arc of San Juan County, our board, and staff are committed to serving individuals from all walks of life. We believe in the importance of providing comprehensive services that consider the whole person, including physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being.
Programs that Embrace Inclusivity:
Our diverse range of programs reflects our dedication to inclusivity. From adult classes like "Art is for Everyone" to "Kickball is for Everyone," and Tai Chi, our offerings are designed to empower and enrich lives. We understand that work is a fundamental component of well-being, and that's why at The Arc Store, 50 percent of our employees have a disability. We are proud to serve as a valuable resource for local businesses looking to hire individuals with different abilities.
Empowering Choices:
At the Arc of San Juan County, we firmly believe that every person, regardless of their abilities, deserves the right to make choices in how they learn, live, work, play, and socialize. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where inclusivity and diversity are celebrated, and where opportunities are created for all.
